About Intelligence Bureau
The Intelligence Bureau is known as a Civilian Intelligence Agency of Pakistan which is also known as the oldest intelligence agency of Pakistan. It was established in the year 1947 after the creation of Pakistan. This organization is directly supervised and authorized by the Prime Minister of Pakistan. It used to be part of the British Intelligence Bureau which was formed by Major General Sir Charles MacGregor in the year 1885, in Shimla. Later after the independence of Pakistan, IB was also partitioned and formed into Pakistan’s IB. This organization was responsible for the domestic affairs of Pakistan as well as foreign and strategic intelligence. But later due to the poor performance of unsatisfactory information and details in the 1947 war with India, IB was set up with the internal security matters only. The main objective of this agency is to monitor suspected terrorists, foreign agents, politicians, and activists.
