Karachi Shipyard
The Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works Limited (KS&EW) commonly known as “Karachi Shipyard” was founded 64 years ago in the year 1957. It is the oldest and the only shipyard of Pakistan which is situated in Karachi, Sindh. This shipyard is owned by the government of Pakistan which is functioning with the collaboration of military corporations and various other defense contractors. This shipyard operates by repairing the ships and by engineering services through the activity of building large pieces of heavy machinery. This state-owned shipyard is spread over on an area of about 71 acres which is consists of a large painting facility equipped with modern types of machinery, 2 dry docks, 3 ship berths, 2 fabrication areas for the marine vehicles, and a large hall for the manufacturing of ships. This shipyard has played an important role in the socio-economic growth of the country by building a large number of cargo ships, submarines, tugboats, etc.
