About Karachi Metropolitan Corporation
KMC stands for Karachi Metropolitan Corporation. This organization is a public firm that is responsible to formulate the policies to direct the municipal affairs of Karachi city. It is a governing body of the Sindh government which was established to provide city services related to basic municipal affairs such as food inspection, water, sanitation, ambulance, development of streets, car parking, sewerage, etc. to the residents of Karachi city in the exchange of taxes which citizens pay. This organization was established in undivided India under British rule in the year 1852 as Karachi Conservancy Board, but later in the year 1933, it converted into the Karachi Municipal Committee. After the independence of Pakistan in the year 1976, this organization was turned into Karachi Metropolitan Corporation. Currently, this organization is functioning under the management of the Mayor of Karachi Mr. Waseem Akhter.
