About Oil & Gas Development Company Ltd
In the year 1952, a giant gas field was explored and discovered by Pakistan Oilfield Limited (POL) and Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) at Sui, Baluchistan. 5 major foreign oil companies developed an interest in working with the Pakistan government after this gigantic exploration. Later after drilling 47 wells in the Sui fields, they discovered only a little percentage of gas fields. In that time era, private companies were more interested in making profits rather than discovering gases. The discovery of gas didn’t exist much at that time, so several companies terminated their discovery operations. Later Pakistan government made a long-term contract with USSR and received 27 million rubles for the discovery purpose. Following that contract Oil and Gas Development Company Ltd was formed in the year 1961. This organization is responsible for planning, promoting, discovering, exploring, and developing the oil and gas sectors in Pakistan. The main objective of OGDC is to provide oil and gas internationally and domestically at a cheap cost while using the latest technologies and innovative ideas.
