About Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA)
PPRA is abbreviated for Public Procurement Regulatory Authority. In Pakistan, this is a government agency with the responsibility of establishing and implementing the necessary guidelines that have to be followed when it comes to public procurements conducted by public sector organizations that are owned by the government. Also, it is responsible for overseeing the activities of public procurement carried out in accordance with the 2002 Ordinance on PPRA. Its main objective is to increase the effectiveness, enhance the administration, efficiency in management, integrity of information & accountability as well as to ensure that public procurement of goods, works, and services meets the highest standards. This agency comes under the jurisdiction of the Government of Pakistan and is authorized by the Finance Division, Defense Production Division, Ministry of Industries & Production, Ministry of Water & Power, Ministry of Housing & Works, and Ministry of Communications. Mr Shaukat Tarin is the Chairman, whereas Ms Nazrat Bashir is the Managing Director of PPRA.
