About Ministry of Climate Change
On the 4th of August 2017, the Ministry of Climate Change was established as a government ministry, preceding the Climate Change Division of the Cabinet Secretariat that had existed for the previous years. It is responsible for addressing the issue of global warming in Pakistan. Prime Minister Imran Khan initiated the 10 Billion Tree Tsunami under this ministry with the aim of stopping deforestation. Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency and Zoological Survey Department act as the child agency of this ministry. There are many departments within this ministry, i.e. Climate Finance Unit, International Cooperation, Administrative, Environment, and Development Wing. Global Change Impact Studies Centre, National Disaster Management Authority, and National Institute of Disaster Management are the agencies that are attached to this ministry. Mr. Malik Amin Aslam is the Advisor to the Prime Minister for Climate Change, whereas, Ms. Zartaj Gul is the Deputy Minister, and Mr. Naveed Shah Durrani is the Secretary. Its headquarter is located on G-5/2, G-5 Islamabad Capital Territory.
