It is a cabinet-level ministry which is administered by the Minister of State & Parliamentarian Mr. M. Shabbir Ali Qureshi and Minister for Housing &Works and Secretary Dr. Imran Zeb Khan. This ministry functions by managing the federal society/lodges, recovery of possession, recovery of rent, and residential & office accommodation of federal employees. National Construction Limited, Pakistan Housing Authority, and Federal Government Employees Housing Authority are the autonomous bodies of this ministry. This ministry has 2 attached departments, i.e. Estate Office Management and Pakistan Public Works Department. The head office of this ministry is situated in the capital federal territory of Pakistan, Islamabad.
